This policy explains what personal information FindMyNextStay collects when you use findmynextstay.com, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We keep it as simple as we can.

Who we are

FindMyNextStay is run by FindMyNextStay Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15128680), 321-323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6AX, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal information described here.

Questions or requests about your information: support@findmynextstay.com, or call +44 7468 650535.

What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), country, phone number and whether it is on WhatsApp, and the role you choose (for example owner, agent, tenant or traveller).
  • Your profile (optional): your occupation, where you studied, a short bio, and links to social profiles if you add them for the Verified badge.
  • What you post: ads, photos, prices, locations, availability calendars, travel packages and accommodation requirements.
  • Messages, bookings and reviews: conversations with other members, booking requests and their dates, and the reviews and star ratings you give and receive.
  • Phone verification (optional): if you verify your phone with WhatsApp, the WhatsApp number you send the code from.
  • Payments: if you pay to promote an ad, the payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details; we keep a record of what was paid and when.
  • How you use the site: your searches while logged in (so we can send one suggestion email, see below), the device you allow to receive notifications, and basic technical information such as your IP address, used to keep the site secure and stop spam.

Why we use it

  • To provide the service you signed up for (contract): your account, publishing your ads and requirements, messages, bookings, reviews, and the emails and notifications these need, such as verification codes, booking updates and review requests.
  • To keep the site safe and fair (legitimate interests): checking accounts and phone numbers, filtering spam and scams, preventing duplicate ads and fake reviews, and investigating reports.
  • To suggest places you may like (legitimate interests): if you search while logged in and do not book or contact anyone, we may send you one email with suggestions 24 hours later, at most once every 14 days. You can turn this off with one click in the email or under Account, Profile.
  • To meet legal duties (legal obligation): for example keeping payment records for tax purposes.
  • With your consent: notifications on your phone or computer, and phone verification with WhatsApp. You can withdraw consent at any time.

What other members see

Your name, profile details, ads, badges, star rating and the number of completed stays and deals are public. Reviews can be read by logged-in members. Your phone number is shown only to registered members, and you can hide your contact details completely under Account, Profile. Your email address is never shown.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted providers who process it for us:

  • WordPress.com (Automattic): hosts the website and its data.
  • Stripe: processes payments.
  • Meta (WhatsApp): receives the verification message if you choose to verify your phone with WhatsApp.
  • Your browser’s notification service (for example Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft): delivers notifications if you turn them on.
  • Google Fonts and OpenStreetMap: provide the site’s fonts and maps, so your browser connects to them when pages load.
  • Other members: when you message or book with someone, they see what you send them.
  • Authorities: only where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards such as UK data transfer agreements or approved standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, ads, devices and phone verification, and remove your name from your messages and reviews; we may keep payment records for up to 6 years where the law requires it, and limited information about accounts removed for fraud or abuse to stop them returning.

Cookies and storage

We use the cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work: keeping you logged in, remembering your chosen country and currency, and your settings for sound and notifications. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy to take elsewhere. You can change most of your details yourself under Account, Profile. To make any other request, email support@findmynextstay.com; we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we use your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

FindMyNextStay is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell members by email where the change affects them.
